  1. Where there is knowledge there is power. Unfortunately, it is a wide belief that domestic violence is the norm, and that it is an issue which must remain within the walls of "her humble abode". When one knows his/her rights, and what they owe to others, they can differentiate between wrong and right, and attempt at making a better life for themselves. Women must be educated so they know as a daughter, sister, wife, mother and neighbor, what she deserves and what she owes unto others. The same goes for men. Islam teaches the importance of the seeking of knowledge for both men and women, making it a duty upon them both. Everyone must know their rights. Once you are aware of your rights, it is easier to keep out of bad situations. If one finds herself in a bad situation, knowledge will make her stronger, and so will a strong support system. It is our job to look out for our sisters out there, and help them make the decision which is best for her, although it may seem otherwise at the time.
