Our delegates are counselors, advocates, musicians, athletes, policy-makers, students and doctors, all with a clear understanding that together we can end violence against women. A Global Game

At the World Cup

Soccer/football is recognized as THE global game. More people play and watch soccer/football than any other sport in the world. On dirt patches, stretches of asphalt and manicured fields, young people are playing this sport in record numbers. On the occasion of the World Cup, when all eyes around the world are on South Africa, Man Up will hold its innagural Young Leaders Summit. Recognizing the power of sport and music to engage youth, Man Up will train young leaders how to mobilize these platforms and stop violence against women.

Young Leaders Summit 2010

About the Summit

The Man Up Campaign will convene a diverse group of up to 200 women and men (ages 18 to 30 years) from 50 countries to to learn from world renowned human rights leaders and each other about how to address violence against women in their communities.

The Campaign will launch at Man Up’s first Young Leaders Summit during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa at the University of Johannesburg with delegates from Africa, the Americas and the Caribbean.

A second Summit will convene delegates from Europe, Asia and the Middle East. These international forums are the first of their kind to develop capacity and technical expertise among young people of both genders, who are committed to stopping violence against women and girls.
